rebecca recently became the proud owner of a sewing machine. this was my first little project, a graduation present for cousin jenna. i'm thinking about going into business, so let me know if you want one!

house III.
here's my final project of the semester. it's another variation of the 3 x 3 models and builds on the first two models. it's definitely my favorite model of the semester, at least in terms of craft and how the model turned out.

VEISHEA
last weekend, a train much like this one took me to a magical land known as ames, iowa.
after i surprised nate at his apartment (with a little help from his roomie), we checked out the VEISHEA parade.
we saw some big red fire engines.
and even the mystery machine.
big beach balls went flying!
of course we had some of those enchanting cherry pies.
(10,000+ of these things were sold!)
cam came down for the afternoon and seemed to really enjoy her little pie.
then we went to campus to check out the happenings.
everyone wanted a picture with me!
sooooo many people.
hanging out on central campus.
these cute old people came and played for us.
here is a video of their performance. if you look closely, you can see us in the last frame!
that night, nate talked steven and me into working at a fundraiser for this guy. from what i could tell, he was a former hippy wearing what was quite possibly his first suit ever (the buttons on his shirt weren't even in the right holes). they served veggie burgers and played "bob's bean bag toss." it was pretty fun.
then, steven and michael j. fox went exploring in the woods and took this manly photo of themselves.
the end.
the end.

house II.
my second house of the semester. it was quite a challenge to build, but after some looooong nights, i managed to get 'er done.
backyard terraced garden thing. the tall dowels represent trees and the short dowels are shrubs. there are also 2 ponds filled with acrylic but you can't see them well in the photo.
i want to ride my bicycle/ i want to ride my bike.
since i got back from spring break, i've been riding my bike to class (except on the days when it snowed slash hailed). it's my dad's old bike that nate helped me fix up and i lOoOoOoOove it! i've even had like 5 people yell "hey! nice bike!" at me while riding down the city streets. apparently all the hipsters are riding crappy old road bikes too.
spring break!
nate came to visit! i was a little short on groceries so we came up with some creative dinner entrees.
i had a mashed potato sauerkraut sandwich with mustard and cheese.
yummmmm!
nate had this double-decker quesadilla with mashed potatoes on top.
not as yum as the sandwich, but it wasn't actually that bad.
then we went down and met mom and cam in colorado springs for g'pa burt's 92nd birthday!
then we went to ames!
and i cut off my hair!
and kathryn came down to play!
unfortunately i had to spend most of my break in the ISU library writing a research paper. but obvs there was still time to fit in a bit of fun.
